The Green Project Announces the Return of Salvations Gala + Auction and a Call for Designers
New Orleans, LA: On June 1, 2018, the Green Project, a New Orleans-based environmental nonprofit, announced the return of Salvations Gala + Auction to be held on Thursday, November 29, 2018. After a three-year hiatus, the annual fundraiser returns to a new venue—City Park’s Arbor Room at Popp Fountain. The evening gala will include a Salvage Design Competition, silent auction, locally crafted food, an open bar and live music. A Call for Designers to participate in the competition has also been announced.
An anchor of the event, the Salvage Design Competition calls upon local designers in Louisiana and the Gulf Coast to create furniture, lighting and functional art out of salvage materials. Juried by a team of professional designers, architects, artists and sustainability experts, the competition challenges both the designers and event patrons to discover that reclaimed goods have immense value. Finalists will be selected to showcase their work at the event and six pieces will be selected for top prizes, including Best in Show. All pieces selected for competition will be auctioned at Salvations Gala + Auction in support of the Green Project, less 30% of profits returning to the designers.

As of Friday, June 1, 2018, applications to participate in the Salvage Furniture Competition have opened and the Green Project is actively seeking designers to participate.
