 Over 700 individuals
volunteer at The Green Project every year. Some come for one
day as part of a group. Others live just around the corner
and help out for a few hours every week. As a community
nonprofit, we are dependent upon the time and energy of our
volunteers, and they have helped us achieve our
environmental mission since 1994.

set up a time to join us. All new volunteers must first have a short
orientation (available Tuesday through Saturday).
How can you get involved at The Green Project?
Warehouse and Lumberyard:
Every day we save 3 tons of materials from the landfills,
and we could never do this without the help of volunteers.
Volunteers help deconstruct, measure, and organize
architectural salvage so we can but it back in use.
Paint Recycling Center:
Help us mix donated paint to create our 100% recycled paint.
This prevents household hazardous waste from leaching into
our wetlands and creates an affordable tool to combat the
blight in our neighborhoods.
Raised Gardens:
Have you ever seen a bathtub garden? Well, The Green Project
is surrounded by them. Put your green thumb to good use and
help us maintain our reused raised beds.
 Outreach Events and Paint & E-Waste Drop-Offs:
Attend community events around New Orleans as a Green
Project Outreach Representative to raise awareness about our
organization. We also have paint and electronic waste
drop-off events around the city, which our Outreach Reps
help with every week.
Administration:
Like all nonprofits, there is a lot of the "behind the
scene" work to be done. Volunteers assist in data entry,
mailings, and other office work - the glue that keeps us together.er.
All volunteers must be 18 years of age or older and bring
closed-toe shoes, water bottle, and clothes you don't mind
getting a wee bit dirty. We also welcome adjudicated
community service volunteers.
