2020 at The Green Project—Looking back on a momentous year

As for everyone, 2020 has been a challenge.

It has forced us to figure out what’s most important, and hone in on it. For us, that means serving the New Orleans community by focusing on our three core programs—Salvage Store, Paint Recycling & Environmental Education.

By focusing on these three programs, we’ve been able to use our time and resources more efficiently, improve the core components of each program and identify what’s most important to our stakeholders—you.

We’re entering 2021 with a growth mindset. We’re excited to rebuild our programs and capacity to bring New Orleanians even more accessibility to sustainability. This includes adding more days to the Salvage Store schedule, launching the M.E.S.S. Lab and working with our Board of Directors to build a visionary strategic plan.

In 2020, despite being closed for 4.5 months, we reclaimed…

  • 1,879 doors

  • 15,027 linear feet of lumber

  • 14,761 linear feet of molding

  • Over 500 windows

  • 4,121 pieces of tile

  • 2,855 gallons of paint

And much, much more! Tab through the slideshow above to see more of our progress and accomplishments in 2020.

As we wrap up this year, we are immensely thankful for the support of our community—from our customers, to donors, to financial contributors. Without you, there is no Green Project. Thank you for your continued support over the past 26 years. Here’s to a new year, hope, growth and joy!

With gratitude,

Hailey Allison
Executive Director

Support our work by making a donation today. Donations give us the ability to keep our Environmental Education program free, build capacity for the Salvage Store to open more days, and bring back much loved programs, like donation pick ups and workshops .
