Could you fit a week’s worth of your trash into a spaghetti sauce jar? What about a month? A year? This is the zero-waste goal! Attend our free Zero-Waste for Beginners Workshop hosted by Sarah of Vintage Green Review to learn super simple tricks & swaps to reduce your waste to “zero” by recycling, reusing, or composting in new ways. We’ll also chat about the changes to NOLA recycling and how you can recycle better at home to help increase citywide effectiveness in reducing plastic pollution.

This fully led session will include:

  • An intro to zero-waste and what it means

  • Clearing up exactly what CAN and CAN’T go in our curbside recycling bins to reduce contamination & make recycling more effective

  • Practical action steps to reduce plastic when grocery shopping or dining out

  • How to recycle WEIRD STUFF that can’t go in our regular bins

Participants will leave with an understanding of what zero-waste is, a 30-day guide to getting started with just one step per day, and a resource list for what to do with hard-to-recycle items in the New Orleans area.

Participants should bring a small, clean household item they want to recycle but don’t know how. In the second half of the session, we’ll brainstorm solutions for hard-to-recycle items and clarify once and for all whether our trash is really trash or can remain part of a new “circular economy.”
