| Our Board's
composition today is a strong, balanced blend of skills and
experience, allowing it to offer guidance in core areas
important to the present and future growth of the Green
Project. Board Members of The Green Project 2011-2012
Daniel Weiner, President: as a LEED certified
Architect, Dan feels that the Green Project's mission aligns
perfectly with his passions: the environment and
architecture. Dan also plays bass guitar in the band Coot.
Jonathan Wallick, Vice President, general
contractor and redeveloper of distressed real estate. He
says "Our architectural heritage and irreplaceable old
materials should not be wasted and end up in the landfill.
The Green Project allows me to pass on these materials,
rather than storing them, without guilt." He tries to save
everything for reuse or recycling.
David Kurtz, Treasurer, shareholder with the law
firm of Baker, Donelson, Bearman, Caldwell and Berkowitz.
The Green Project's mission is exciting to him because it
simultaneously helps to protect the environment while also
preserving unique pieces of New Orleans architectural
heritage.
Ben Haney, Manager, Environmental, Health & Safety
Consulting URS Corporation. Ben knows reclaiming material
will improve the quality of life in New Orleans and minimize
our impact on other areas in the region.
Tillman Hardy, CORE, USA. Tilman is a certified
Solar Consultant, energy rater and auditor, and a
weatherization contractor. He knows the Green Project is not
only a great resource for building materials, it's also a
vital member of the grassroots movement toward a more
sustainable New Orleans.
Myron Katz, Energy and Building Science Consultant
with Building Science Innovators, LLC. Myron supports energy
conservation, old building preservation and building
durability. He has been active in environmental protection
advocacy since 1980, and is a past president of the Sierra
Club.
Marilyn Kearney, an active leader in the city's
revitalization effort post-Katrina, most recently as the
Program Manager for Oak Street's Main Street initiative. A
strong believer that the greenest house is the one that is
already built, Marilyn's focus on the board has been to
market the value and variety of recycled materials available
at the Green Project.
Jennifer Ponce, owner, Palo Nola LLC. Jennifer
renovates historical houses in New Orleans with a emphasis
on reuse of materials. She has been recognized by the
Historic District Landmarks Commission for her work.
Michael Sabitini, an environmental engineer, Michael went thru the Junior
League’s Get On Board Program which trains interested people in how to work effectively
as board members.
Karen Babin, self described recycling fiend, Karen has business experience and a long
active involvement with Rotary.
Yerga Baraki, A long time and regular customer at the Green Project, Yerga is
rebuilding her home on the West Bank.
Kristen Shorp, an attorney, Kristen has been active with organizational and fundraising
activities with the Pro Bono organization.
